NCS Concert Update

Last month the National Citizen Service (NCS) teamed up with Rudimental, The 1975, Clean Bandit and DJ Goldierocks for a free gig at the Gorilla Club, Manchester.

Hundred’s of 16 and 17 year olds from across the UK were in attendance for the show but for 6 lucky youngsters the night was made extra special as they won the coveted prizes of working behind the scenes.

The six winners were Emily Watson from Leeds who, as the Photographers Assistant, took live pictures and captured all the action backstage. Rory Middleton from Kent won the role of PR Assistant, which gave him access to the performers as they were interviewed by the UK’s top media.  Blackpool’s Nicole Gee was Production Assistant, Zainab Riyal Deen of Newcastle became Event Co-ordinator for the night while Manchester’s Reece Doonan won the role of Social Media Co-ordinator. Ensuring that all acts were in the right place at the right time was the Talent Liaison, Nagma Mohamed from London.

Speaking about her role as Talent Liaison, Nagma said “I have had the most amazing experience. I never thought I’d ever get the chance to work at a gig, and especially directly with the acts. It was saying yes that gave me the opportunity to do it. It just shows you have to say yes, when these few opportunities come up.”

Stephen Greene, Chairman of the NCS IMB (Independent Managing Body) said “We are thankful for all of the artists giving their time to support NCS. Music is the universal language and a great way to communicate the benefits of NCS to young people.”

After their performance Rudimental said “We wanted to show young people that you can come from a tough area like us and still make something of yourself. We are performing here today because we said yes.”
