Spotify has announced its launch of a new beta feature that enables independent artists to upload their music directly to the service.
Since the launch of their Spotify For Artists platform, the streaming giant have been working with a handful of Independent Artists and Labels to gain feedback on what tools would work best for them.
CEO Daniel Ek comments; “We worked with a handful of independent artists and labels like Noname, Michael Brun, VIAA and Hot Shade – their feedbac was instrumental in shaping the feature, and now we’re ready to see how a wider range of artists will put it to use.”
Artists will be able to deliver music straight to Spotify for free, set release dates and take control of the metadata.
The services is currently only available by invitiation to USA independent artists but Spotify plan to roll this out more widely in the coming months.
