Sergeant Major Colin Thackery, this years’ BGT winner, becomes the oldest ever solo artist to sign his first record deal and release debut ‘Love Changes Everything’.
Out on Decca Records and in partnership with Syco, the 89 year old war veterans album features versions of ‘Wind Beneath My Wings‘, ‘Supermarket Flowers’ and title track ‘Love Changes Everything’.
Sergeant Major Thackery also duets with our forces sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn for a rendition of ‘From the Time You Say Goodbye’ using her original 1950’s vocals.
2020 will see Thackery embark on a UK tour with a special concert on 9th March at London’s Cadogan Hall to celebrate his 90th birthday.
Colin entered Britain’s Got Talent after a dare and dedicated all three of his stirring televised performances to his late wife Joan, who passed away in 2016. They married in 1950 but Colin was posted to Korea two weeks later. It wasn’t until two years later that Joan eventually joined him, in Hong Kong.
The BGT champion – whose triumph on Britain’s Got Talent was watched by more than 10 million TV viewers – has been bringing joy with his vocal skills to friends and residents of the Royal Hospital Chelsea where he lives, for years, with regular singalong sessions. He also sings at the hospital’s dementia ward every week.
Colin Thackery’s debut album ‘Love Changes Everything’ is out today on Decca Records, in partnership with Syco.
