Following a fast and furious rap round, with judges Tippa Irie, Maria Kempinska and Lady Lush under pressure to select a winner, Bhype took time out to talk to Musicvein about winning his category & his thoughts on Smartz and Fdot1.
“I’m on a high right now! and I’m pleased that the judges believed the ‘HYPE’! Regarding Smartz, it was the first time I had come across him and my first impressions were positive. I got into his track ‘Darkest Day’ – I know I like it because I remember the title!” he laughs.“Me and Fdot1 go way back, we already have tracks together so it was never a competition for me. I took it as an opportunity to bless the stage and entertain people, I had a great night.”
Here’s what the other competitors had to say about Bhype…
Smartz:“I was feeling Bhype’s energy, his performance was good.”
Fdot1: “Shout out to Smartz and Bhype for doing their thing. It was a tough heat, Bhype set a high standard. After his performance, it was ‘bring your A-game’ or come up short. All in all I thought our category was the hardest to judge – Massive respect to them both.”
So Bhype makes it through to the final round! Make sure you tune into Repdat on OHtv next week to witness Soul/Rnb artists Davinia Rodriques, Deja and Andrea Galaxy representing the best in UK talent.
