Grammy Award Winning, Rock n Roll Queen, Tina Turner, has died following illness.

Born Anna-Mae Bullock, Turner rose to fame as part of a duo with her former husband Ike Turner.

But behind the performing duos on screen chemistry, Turner faced a life of abuse by Ike. Only following the release of her autobiography in 1986 did the true extent of her torture come to light.

Despite her past, Turner went on to become an icon in the music industry, winning eight Grammys, and releasing hits like Private Dancer, What’s Love Got To Do With It and The Best, her most notable film role was in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdrome.

Speaking in what is believed to be her final interview, Turner said that she would like to be remembered as “…the Queen of Rock’n’Roll…a woman who showed other women that it is OK to strive for success on their own terms.”
