Of the highs that happened in 2023, the release of Gotts Street Park’s debut album, On The Inside, has to be up there!

A mellow 60’s soul-infused joint with trip hop beats and cinematic instrumentals will leave you scrambling for the Leeds trio’s back catalogue!

The album ascends with the hypnotic highs of Rosie Lowe on ‘Summer Breeze’. Think a cross between early compositions of D’Angelo and Meshell Ndegeocello to dig the cool zephyr created. While ‘Tell Me Why‘ oozes a seductiveness as the vocals of Olive Jones coil around the composition, charming listeners into a song of dangerous love.

Continuing the theme of relationships and wanting to be in a better situation comes the track ‘Got To Be Good’ featuring Pip Millett. If ever there was a song perfect for the new Amy Winehouse biopic, this one would be it!

But while the 12-track album comes with a host of talented up and coming artists, it does contain 6 instrumentals which cement the fundamentals of Gotts Street Park, experimental, traversing – blending old styles with new – and in their own lane. Look out for ‘Fuego’ with its old cinematic vibe and ‘Purple’ with its tinge of Pink Floyd influence before the albums gentle decent into a Knopfler-style ‘Walk Away’.

On The Inside by Gotts Street Park is certainly one to invest in for 2024.
