Damien puts ‘DSoul’ in Oxjam Leicester

Organizer Cyrlene Braithwaite with broadcaster John SinclairCity Link-up hosted Leicester’s first Oxjam Urban act stage at the Midas Bar and boy was that bar on fire! Sourcing the best acts from the Midlands and further afield organizer Cyrlene Braithwaite did the town proud.

Kicking off with Leicester’s own Ashley Cole, the 7 hour event produced some of the rawest unsigned talent out there, X-Alted, Wendy Christian, Calvin Jeffrey, Rumpus & Samson Greenwave and many more acts. “This is the best Oxjam stage I’ve been to in the past 3 years!” commented one crowd member and it was clear to see that everyone was having a great time in the packed bar – none so more than a young lad who danced his little legs off to every lively act on stage! Rumpus & Sampson Greenwave

The Oxjam festival now in its 7th year attracts music lovers of all kinds in the spirit of raising money and awareness for Oxfam. Volunteers in various towns across the UK take-over venues to host shows while the musicians donate their time for the pleasure of the masses.

But it was Damien ‘DSoul’ Smith, who travelled miles from his hometown in Hastings, that stole the night with his soon to be released single ‘Kite Flying‘, taken from the EP of the same name – due out next month. Take note of the name as I can see next year being a big year for this talented singer.
