I love, love, love the debut album ‘Motown Dream’ by Italian soul singer Vahimiti. Having heard her sultry vocals backing up Mario Biondi, I’ve been looking forward to Vahimiti stepping from the shadows and producing her very own album.
‘Motown Dream’ is a real bad-ass debut and it’s no wonder considering the talent she has working with her. Not only was the album produced by Vernon D Hill (who also co-wrote a few tracks and is known for his work with Dwele, Slum Village, Bahamadia and Joy Denalane), Vahimiti also has David Haynes – drummer for Prince, Frank McComb and Arrested Development, the bass-player of Dwele and Mario Biondi – Andrea Celestino (also a co-author) and Axel Reinemer of Jazzanova! and that’s just a few members that made this great project what it is.
‘Motown Dream’ has all the key ingredients of classic RnB. Vahimiti breathing her mediterranean soul into the music and transporting the listener to warmer sunny climates – you just can’t help but smile and relax in the groove (someone pass me a Mojito)
I love the cool jazziness of ‘Hell’s in Heaven’ and the way that title track ‘Motown Dream’ is arranged to make it seem like you the listener are waking up in confusion from a dream! But perhaps my favorite songs have to be Vahimiti’s debut track ‘I Can Remember When’ and ‘On Your Side’ featuring Italian rap artist L’Arcano.
‘Motown Dream’ is set for release Monday 27th January and will be available from Itunes, CD Baby and Amazon.
