Melissa James performs live at the Green Note, Camden
London based singer/songwriter, Melissa James returns to music haunt, the Green Note, on Sunday 11 May.
Melissa, whose 2012 debut album release ‘Day Dawns’ was met with rave reviews, makes a return to the Camden venue to perform an acoustic set with accompaniment from her trio of guitar, bass and piano.
“Performing at the Green Note always feels like I’m returning to my ‘performance home’ in a way because it’s such a welcoming an friendly club with such a homely vibe. I’ve also never performed there acoustically so playing in that space without the full band will feel stripped back and very special – I’m looking forward to doing it.”
Melissa, is a familiar face at this intimate club where her album release party was held in June 2012. This performance comes just a few weeks before she embarks on a mini series of concerts in churches that she is organizing in different areas of the south east of England. This tour will see Melissa return to the area later in the year for a concert at renowned spiritual music venue, St Pancras Old Church.
2013 was a very busy time for Melissa who was invited to perform at the prestigious EFG London Jazz Festival and who also began performing a number of fundraising concerts in art gallery spaces as part of her concept, Gig in a Gallery, which raised money for charity.
Fusing her love of blues, folk, jazz and soul, Melissa’s songs take the listener on mini detours, which often open up to reveal the sometimes raw elements of her innermost thoughts. Combined with the velvety power of her delivery, it makes for a spine tingling experience.
