First up to audition was 12 year old Taya Jones from Melton Mowbray, she performed ‘Ghost’ by Ella Henderson
“I really love singing and have been since I was little. I performed the song Ghost by Ella Henderson. The team were really nice, didn’t make you feel shy or anything, they told me I had a good voice which made me feel really good about myself.”
Charlie (voice of an angel) Baxter, 12 from Rothley Leicestershire, wowed Jake and Sophie so much with his rendition of ‘When I Was Your Man’ by Bruno Mars, that they asked him to sing a second song!
“I couldn’t believe it when they asked for another song, I didn’t have anything prepared as I didn’t know if they’d like me or not – but I gave them what they asked for. I’ve been singing for 3 years now at the Performing Stars Academy and I love it. I love the show Britain’s Got Talent and it would be awesome to get through.”
Aaliyah Johnson 11 from Melton Mowbray was stunned when she got the call for audition.
“My mum sent in a video of me singing without me knowing. I was shocked when I found out I had got an audition slot. I’ve been singing for 3 years now and inspired by my dad who sings in a local band. It was a bit scary being in front of the team but as I left the room I could hear them singing the song I had just sung, that made me laugh.”
“I sent in my audition piece just to see if I had what it takes to get through and was really shocked to get the call. I’ve been singing for 3 years but this was a really nerve-wracking experience. Jake and Sophie just told me to calm down and made me feel slightly more at ease than I did. I performed ‘Listen’ by Beyonce.”
Beckie Booth, 18, Melton.
“Today I sang Jessie J’s ‘Big White Room’ and it went better than I thought it would. I’ve always wanted to pursue a career in singing but never had the confidence. Friends and family pushed me to send in my audition tape and I’m glad I did. In the future I’d like to follow in the footsteps of Adele, Beyonce, Iggy Azalea – they’re my favourite artists.”
Acoustic guitarist Aaron Stratton, 16, Quorn knows a thing or two about performing live and can often be found on the music circuit in Leicestershire.
“I’m really greatful for the chance to be here performing for the BGT Team. It wasn’t too bad being in front of them performing as I often play gigs in and around Leicestershire, mostly the Shed, Musician, Soundhouse. I’ve been playing the acoustic guitar for about 2 years and performing live a lot longer. Jake and Sophie said I had a good voice, that feedback made me feel good.”
Liv Armon, 17, Leicester
“I sang ‘Somebody I Used To Know’ by Gotye. I’ve been singing for 8 years now, the team were really nice and welcoming they even complimented my outfit! I would love to see if I get through, though I’m concentrating on my A levels at the minute so I’m not sure what I’d do if I got the call.”
Ilea Cavner, 15, Melton
“My friends encouraged me to audition for BGT 2015. I really love to sing and take every opportunity to do so. Jake and Sophie were so nice and I wasn’t prepared for them to ask me to perform a second song after doing Etta James’ ‘At Last’ but I composed myself and got on with it. Performing is everything to me, one day I hope to be on the West End.”
Thomas Charley, 13, Grantham – was a finalist in this years Vales Got Talent competition.
“I sang ‘Walking In The Air’ from the film The Snowman. I was a finalist in Vales Got Talent this year and thought I’d like to give this a go too. The team were really great.”
