This week I’ll be following the Live Below The Line challenge taken up by Harriet Eaves in surviving on £1 per day for 5 days in an attempt to raise awareness of extreme poverty in the world.
Incredibly, Harriet has already raised over half of her £200 target and she’s only on Day 1! Still it’s a worthy caused and every penny raised will be helping someone out of a tough situation.
Here’s her journey so far…
Day One:
Breakfast: Gruel (Porridge oats and water) 2.8p, tea with milk 0.5p, pilfered stick of sugar free!
Total cost – 3.3p!
Lunch: 3 Egg and mushroom omelet. Eggs from caged hens. Free range eggs were £1 more expensive. A luxury I couldn’t afford.
Total cost – 50.2p!
Tea: Curry flavour instant noodles. Grim.
Total cost – 18p!
Monday’s total – 71.5p
