Jazz and soul singer-songwriter Gregory Porter led a chorus of musicians including Mumford & Sons, Baaba Maal and The Very Best in a musical tribute to Prince on BBC show, Later With Jools Holland.
Porter, who sites Prince as a significant influence on his music stated: “Prince was one of the musical masters, an extraordinary influence on so many different people. The blurring of the lines of genre, the connection to the roots of blues, gospel, soul and jazz and bringing it to a contemporary audience is a large part of his genius. I would look to him personally, for adding Blues, Soul and Gospel to my Jazz.”
