Comedian Jason Manford is to release his first ever album featuring songs from hit Musicals, after landing a deal with Decca Records.
Scheduled for release on 6th October, ‘A Different Stage’ sees Manford perform songs fondly remembered from his childhood and inspired by his time on stage since he debuted in Sweeney Todd 2012.
Expect to hear renditions of ‘Hushabye Mountain’ from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, ‘The Impossible Dream’ from the 1965 Broadway musical Man of La Mancha, ‘Stars’ Les Miserablés and ‘Where You Live’ from My Fair Lady.
Speaking of the project, Jason Manford says: “I feel so incredibly lucky to have been asked to record this album and especially with a respected company like Decca – what are they playing at?!! From singing with my Nana’s band as a young boy to appearing in huge musical productions, I’ve loved singing for as long as I can remember. It’s been a treat to perform my favourite songs and it’s been great to share some of the experience along the way with so many of my fans…Hope you like it.”
Tom Lewis, Director of A&R at Decca, says: “Everyone knows Jason for his incredibly successful TV and comedy career but what is less known is what extraordinary success he’s had on stage as a singer, we’re delighted to be showcasing his voice on this wonderful new album.”
‘A Different Stage’ by Jason Manford will be released early autumn ahead of his year-long 2018 UK comedy tour ‘Muddle Class’.
