Grammy Award winning artist Gregory Porter has teamed up with Grammy winning conductor Vince Mendoza to record new album ‘Nat King Cole & Me’.

It’s the first time Porter has recorded with a full orchestra and under the direction of Mendoza, who has won 6 Grammys – you know it’s going to be something special.

The deeply personal tribute to Nat King Cole comes from Porter‘s early childhood encounter with Cole‘s music.

“When I was five,” he reminisces “I wrote a song…’Once upon a time I had a dream boat…upon that boat I found my love.’ my mother said ‘boy you sound like Nat King Cole!”

The young impressionable Gregory, dug into his mothers record collection to find out who this man was she referred to and upon hearing ‘Nature Boy’ for the first time, it was like the great ‘King Cole’ was singing words of wisdom directly to him.

‘Nat King Cole & Me’ will be released on 27th October through Decca/Blue Note Records and features songs such as ‘Smile’, ‘Nature Boy’, ‘Quizas Quizas Quizas’ and the beautiful ‘L-O-V-E’.

You’ll have to wait till April 2018 though to see Gregory Porter perform the album live, when he embarks on a UK Tour with dates in Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and London.
