Following on from previous EP’s ‘Lost in Thought’ (2016) and ‘Ice Cold’ (2018), Veronica Fusaro is back with new release ‘Sunkissed’.
Contemporary songs with an early Motown, 60’s girl group and northern soul feel, the 5-track EP, lasting as long as a British Summer takes the listener away on a nostalgic happy trip.
Opening track ‘Rollercoaster’, a song celebrating the joys of topsy-turvy love is perhaps my favorite, reminding me of Lulu and Duffy, while the guitar picks of ‘Lie To Be’ has a Winehouse ‘Unholy War’ feel to it.
For fans of Corinne Bailey Rae’s early works, you’ll enjoy last song ‘All I Ever Wanted’ which recalls a past love and the revelation that certain words can only be said through music.
Fusaro has a great knack for story-telling through song, her words sometimes blunt, paints a scene for the listeners imagination. I love how her music emulates strong females of the past but at the same time is exciting, current and leading a new way.
This 22 year old is definitely one to watch!
