Gig in a Gallery with Melissa James

When singer, songwriter Melissa James heard of the Small Steps Project late last year, she didn’t hesitate to get in contact with the Charity’s founder Amy Hanson to offer her support to the cause. Fast forward a few months and Melissa’s idea to combine what she does best, singing and performing, with raising money is finally coming to fruition.

“I happened to be tuned into a radio programme on which Amy was speaking about the work of SSP.  On hearing about them, I wanted to get in touch to offer my help, and did so…Gig in a gallery sees me putting on ‘pop up’ concerts in art/photography galleries to raise funds for SSP.”

The Small Steps Project (SSP) works to help families who live, feed and work on municipal rubbish dumps in developing countries. The charity, which was set up by former journalist Amy Hanson, provides these children and families with much needed shoes and aid – thus giving them the chance of a better future while raising global awareness through documentaries and celebrity shoe auctions.
