Over the past year London artist Melissa James has set about staging performances in unique spaces in aid of various charities. Last year the Gig In A Gallery shows saw her raising money for the Small Steps Project which was set up by former journalist Amy Hanson, the charity to benefit this year will be Fixers and Thursday 4 December an online auction will be held to raise much needed funds.
Fixers are young people motivated by a desire to act on an issue that is important to them or a strong desire to help other people. They have a voice that they want to be heard, whether that’s on eating disorders, drugs, offending, cyberbullying or any other issue concerning them. Fixers choose the issue they want to fix and, using the skills of a team of creative experts, they work out how to make sure their message is heard by the right people. To date there are 14,600 Fixers across the UK.
The Gig In A Gallery Fundraising Auction will include signed merchandise from Florence and The Machine, Wilko Johnson, Imelda May and Jamie Cullen to name a few.
The auction will run from 8pm 4 December to 8pm on 14 December (GMT) http://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/giginagalleryfundraising
