Let me start off by wishing each of you the very best for 2023!
Thank you for your support in 2022, which creatively I found to be very trying during the latter half of the year.
Mentally, I struggled, and the more I thought about how I wasn’t writing and staying current, the more I hit a wall and felt, “What’s the point? Is anyone even reading this drivel?” I put myself down a lot. The voices of doubt got louder as promising projects fell through, and even though my inbox burst with unread messages – requests for interviews/reviews – I just couldn’t face them.
I love music, meeting artists, speaking to them, and getting into the mind of the creator – I just couldn’t find my way back to my passion for writing.
Recently, while clearing my hard drive I came across radio interviews I’d done with the BBC who’d contacted me on several occasions for my opinion on things happening in the music world – The Spice Girls reunion, Ed Sheeran Court Case win, Ladbaby run of Christmas no. 1s, the Will Smith slap, Sugababes return and much more – the more I looked at my achievements the more it opened my eyes.
I may be a small voice in a big pond, I’m not writing for a major music publication, but after 10 years Musicvein is still growing year on year, reaching further and further afield and I’m loving the journey. Sometimes you just need to take time out, look for positives in your life and reset your thinking.
So, as 2023 begins, I’m not going to make any New Year’s Resolutions to be/do better than the year before. Instead, I’ll open my 2023 blank Book of Opportunity, create ways to seek them, and be ready to seize each one that comes my way.

Let me know what you think?
